The name, MindFrames Consulting, was inspired by Howard Gardner’s groundbreaking book, Frames of Mind. In 1983, Gardner identified seven primary intelligences that enable us to innovate and problem-solve. The most accepted and understood of these intelligences is rationality or logic. All of us use this particular intelligence to do problem solving. If we add Gardener’s lesser-known intelligences -- understanding others and understanding ourselves – we have the combination that unlatches and releases employee motivation, productivity, organizational efficiency and excellent communication. Your organizational problems can be improved through this strategic intersection of rational and emotional intelligences. At MindFrames Consulting, we recognize that emotions are the subtle barometer of an organization’s health. People, who like their colleagues, enjoy their own work, and feel appreciated by their organization will be performers whose productivity will contribute significantly to the bottom line. The need for job satisfaction, inclusion and appreciation are not limited to front-line employees. Isolated CIOs and V.P.s do not make good decisions. Negative emotions seriously undermine an organization, but they can be transformed. MindFrames Consulting specializes in conflict resolution and teambuilding. We view these areas as two sides of the same coin. The need for conflict resolution arises when members of a team are embroiled in interpersonal crises. Managers often request teambuilding because subtle, even petty, conflicts prevent the team from functioning at its highest capacity. Adapting to change is another area of MindFrames Consulting expertise. We work with organizations that are down-sizing, merging, spinning off and starting up. We coach employees engaged in internal and external changes. Emotions are again in the forefront of resistance to change and must be carefully identified before they can be transformed. Good leadership skills have an impact on conflicts, teams and the ability to survive change. MindFrames Consulting works with leaders to improve empathy and flexibility and to support vision and authenticity. Such skills can be enhanced through training and coaching although, as with athletes, natural ability and determination to succeed play an important role. Finally, MindFrames Consulting is dedicated to making diversity work. Our belief is that the diversity of all people -- whether racial, cultural, gender, personality, physical or other types -- will enhance the meaning and value of contributions in the workplace. The process is not something that happens automatically; it must be accomplished methodically. Building the concrete in support of the ideal is the MindFrames Consulting philosophy and approach. We analyze situations as they exist and identify what results the organization seeks. Firmly, creatively and efficiently, we guide employees to establish and implement the solutions themselves. It’s a process that generates employees' best work and most enthusiastic commitment. |
